In order to actively promote the "five education at the same time", create an atmosphere of labor education, and cultivate students' correct labor values and good labor quality. On the morning of May 19, sponsored by the leading Group of Labor Education Work of Jiangsu University and hosted by the School of Pharmacy, Jinghu Academy and Wenxin Academy, the "Planting" of the "Artemisia annua" and "Medicine" activities of Jiangsu University's labor Month "I Plant Herbs in JiangUniversity" kicked off in the pharmacy building. This activity was guided by the Labor Education Practice team of the College of Pharmacy, and nearly 50 Chinese and foreign students from 7 colleges participated in it.
In the early stage of the activity, more than 200 sets of Chinese medicinal materials such as artemisia annua, isatis root and safflower were distributed on campus, and students were encouraged to raise medicinal materials in their dormitories.
On the day of the activity, Liu Zhengxin, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Pharmacy, warmly welcomed the students and expected to deepen the exchanges between Chinese and foreign students through this activity and jointly promote the spread of traditional Chinese medicine culture. Then Fu Haizhen and Chen Hongxia from the School of Pharmacy gave a lecture on the basic knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and basic planting skills. Under the leadership of the instructor, the students participated in the activity carried out the transplanting, planting and maintenance of Chinese herbal medicines such as Artemisia annulosa, Artemisia annulosa, mugwort and Shecan, and completed the production of Chinese herbal medicine cultural and creative products such as Chinese herbal medicine printing, Chinese herbal medicine aromatherapy wax tablets and mosquito repellent sachet.
Chinese and foreign students learn and innovate in the same room in the labor, and complete the planting of traditional Chinese medicine and the production of many cultural and creative products of traditional Chinese medicine in bursts of fragrance. The students actively participated, studied carefully, and were meticulous in every link. Many students said that they not only learned the basic knowledge and planting skills of Chinese herbal medicine in the activity, but also felt the fun and sense of achievement of labor. This activity not only enhanced the students' hands-on ability, but also deepened their understanding and interest in Chinese herbal medicine knowledge. Through practical operation, we have a deeper understanding of many medicinal materials such as artemisia annua, not only will "plant" this artemisia annua, but also "recognize" this artemisia annua.
Over the years, the School of Pharmacy has closely combined with the professional characteristics of the discipline to carry out labor practice education work continuously, and constantly explore the way and content of education that students enjoy. The "Chinese Herbal Medicine Cultivation and Product Production" project was awarded the Grand Prize of the Excellent Practice Project of Labor Education in Jiangsu Province in 2022, and the "Labor Education Practice Team of Pharmacy School" was awarded the 9th Jiangsu University Youth Civilization Number in 2023. In the future, the College will continue to build a labor stage, expand the connotation of labor, provide normal labor resources for teachers and students, and carry out campus cultural activities in various forms and rich connotations, so that "Medicine Fragrance Jiangda" will become a beautiful scenery on campus and promote the all-round development of students.
